Last years harvest was super late but this year seems more like the norm. Seems like all the fruit suffered last year with that late frost. We didn't even have the bushels of Asian pears to give away like usual.
Mark checked the brix on the Pinot noir this morning and it is averaging out to about 18. That seems about right for this time in September. The sugars will continue to rise with the warm days ahead. Weather person predicted a few nineties later in the week. The grapes will love that.
The pictures you see above were taken on my morning walk with the pups.
Kayla started working in the vineyard the summer before her freshman year in high school. Her mother dropped her off on her way to work and her grandmother picked her up. She continued to work in the vineyard part time even when working full time elsewhere.
This year she took on another job which has taken her away from the vineyard. Kayla's devotion has shifted to being a really good parent. We miss seeing her and her pups this season but she promises to visit during the harvest and show off her newest love.
